Whelo gives credit to Fitzmaurice

Would Kerry have got their hands on the Sam Maguire Cup last September had Dublin been their final opponents?

Metropolitan midfielder Ciaran Whelan answered no to that hypothetical question when it was put to him by The Irish Daily Star.

"I think the way Dublin set out their stall and their attacking philosophy they bring to the game ... if they had to set out to play football and Kerry had to match them, I think Dublin would come out on top.

"But you have got to give Fitzmaurice huge credit for tactically being aware and learning a lot from the Dublin-Donegal match.

"Even if Dublin had got through, I think he would have learned more about Dublin as well.

"So he deserves huge credit from that perspective."
