Last year's defeated finalists CIT got their Fitzgibbon Cup Group A campaign off to a winning start at the expense of 14-man DCU today.

Despite having Pat Carroll sent off in the 3rd minute, DCU gave as good as they got during the opening 30 minutes and Kevin O'Flynn's goal sent the sides in level at the break - CIT 0-8, DCU 1-5.

To their credit, DCU continued to battle gamely in the second-half but CIT capitalised on their numerical advantage in the closing stages.
