Michael Darragh Macauley is clear to face Cork in the opening round of the Allianz League next weekend, despite receiving a straight red card in Dublin's O'Byrne Cup final victory over Kildare yesterday.

The 2013 Footballer of the Year was dismissed at the end of normal time by referee David Gough for lashing out at opponent Gary White, but Dublin were restored to a full complement of 15 players for extra-time with Denis Bastick - who Macauley had replaced in the 48th minute - coming back on.

While Macauley is expected to be hit with a one-match ban, it won't apply until next year's O'Byrne Cup, meaning he will be eligible to line out against the Rebels at Pairc Ui Rinn next Sunday.
