All-Ireland Sevens: historic first for hosts

Kilmacud Crokes have appointed former Clare hurler Ollie Baker as their manager.
Host club Kilmacud Crokes claimed their first ever All-Ireland Sevens senior hurling title in emphatic style this afternoon.
After putting four goals past Cork champions Midleton in the semi-final, Ollie Baker's charges powered to a 6-21 to 7-5 victory over Portroe in the final at Glenalbyn. The Tipperary men, who defeated Tubber of Clare in the penultimate round, were facing an uphill battle at half-time when they trailed by 3-5 to 3-10 and were down to six players following Kevin O'Halloran's red card.

- Lisa Clancy (@clancylisa) September 6, 2014Dublin star and Tipperary native Ryan O'Dwyer was named Player of the Tournament after scoring 2-2 in the final. Sean McGrath and Oisin O'Rorke were also among the goals for the hosts, while John and Mikey Sheedy scored Portroe's seven goals between them.
There was also a first in the Shield final where Burt of Donegal registered a 2-13 to3-8 victory over Armagh's Keady.
