Dublin legend Charlie Redmond has branded Meath as "shameful" for making such a big deal about the tussle between Mickey Burke and Eoghan O'Gara.

The Royal County have alleged that O'Gara bit Burke when the pair grappled during the 63rd minute of Sunday's Leinster SFC final at Croke Park and Redmond insists Meath have embarrassed themselves by highlighting the incident:

"From what I saw of the incident, there is little evidence of a bite and if it's proven that the Dublin player didn't bite then he should have recourse as it's his reputation that has been brought into question by this," the 1995 All-Ireland winner, who lives in Meath, states in The Irish Daily Star.

"I find it shameful that Meath have made such a big issue out of this. I was bitten when I played.

"I know it's wrong and it shouldn't happen but these incidents happen during games and they should be left on the pitch.

"There are people in the Meath camp, and certainly ex-players, who will be embarrassed by this."
