Gerry Reilly Cup: Dublin advance at Meath's expense.

Dublin 1-11 Meath 2-5

Dublin had to withstand a lot of pressure from Meath in the closing minutes to claim victory in the Gerry Reilly U-16 FT played in Oldcastle on Sunday afternoon. Meath's James Conlon opened the scoring with a point. Sean gibbons then poited for Dublin in the 7th minute and he quickly followed up with a second. Nathan Nolan stretched Dublin's lead with their 3rd point.

On the 14th minute Dylan Knight got Dublin's 4th unanswered point.

Daragh Campion pulled one back for Meath before Patrick Murtagh's goal gave Meath the lead for the second time.

A Tom Keane point had the sides level followed up by a Ciaran Dowling point to regain the lead for Dublin. In this period Meath registered 5 successive wides (including one of the post). Enna Murtagh had the sides level again in injury time.

But Dublin's Jeff Rafter gave Dublin the half time lead with a point.

Both sides traded wides on the restart. The Dublin 'keeper, James Cannon, brought off a great save on Meath's goal attempt. At the other end the Meath 'keeper, performed similar heroics. Conor Hynes stretched Dublin's lead with a point in the 38th minute.

Scores were hard to come by with great defence and determination from both sides. Jame Conlon pointed from a free to leave the minimum between the sides.

But then Dublin got the crucial goal finished to the net by Tiernan McGlynn after a rebound off the goalie. Two more Dublin points gave them a 6 point lead.

Points were exchanged before Meath's second goal was finished to the net by Kevin Gilsenan. Earlier Meath's Ethan Devine had hit a hard hit shot on goal that came back off the post. Meath tried hard for the equaliser but Dublin held out.

Dublin now play Cavan (who defeated Wicklow on Sunday also) in the Gerry Reilly Cup final on Sunday week (27 July)
