Champs will be champing at the bit - Hayes

Cork attacker John Hayes expects Dublin to be fired up when the sides meet at Croke Park on Sunday.

The new-look Rebels take on the title holders in an eagerly-awaited national football league semi-final and Hayes believes that Cork's victory over the All-Ireland champions in February will serve as added motivation for Jim Gavin's all-conquering charges:

"I would have no doubt they would not have been happy to lose that game," the Carbery Rangers clubman notes in The Irish Sun.

"But they probably would have felt that they had the winning of it with ten minutes to go, so they would've been disappointed.

"They're All-Ireland champions and they'll be champing at the bit for Sunday. We'd be conscious too that Dublin will have a few more players back in the fold the next day and there will probably be a bigger crowd there again.

"There was maybe 20,000 there the last day but there'll be double that on Sunday. It's a step up again so hopefully we can react to that."
