With one round left in the Allianz football leagues, we select the players who have impressed us the most during the six rounds to date.

1. Niall Morgan (Tyrone)

Morgan's debut season was cruelly cut short by a knee injury he sustained in a club game but the Red Hand County number one has recovered to reclaim his place between the posts. A dead-ball specialist, the Edendork clubman is making up for lost time.

2. Neil McGee (Donegal)

After cruising to three wins in their first three outings, Donegal dropped three out of four points in against Meath and Down respectively. Jim McGuinness' men returned to winning ways last weekend against Louth and McGee has been a model of consistency in their defence.

3. Chrissy McKaigue (Derry)

Derry have surpassed all expectations by reaching the knock-out stages on their first year back in the top flight. The performances of McKaigue in the number three jersey have been central to their four wins and one draw in Division 1 and Oak Leaf fans will be hoping they have a few surprises left up their sleeve.

4. Michael Shields (Cork)

Troubled by injury earlier on in the year, Shields returned to bolster the Rebel County defence to good effect. Brian Cuthbert's side currently top Division 1, on score difference from Derry, and Shields has been his usual reliable self. He lined out at centre-back in the exciting draw with Tyrone.

5. Lee Keegan (Mayo)

If there were such a thing as 'Player of the League', Keegan would be a front-runner. The All Star has continued where he left off in 2013 and, defensive duties aside, he has featured regularly on the scoresheet for James Horan's team. The Westport man is an automatic inclusion.

6. Dessie Mone (Monaghan)

Monaghan are on course for a place in Division 1 and Mone defensive qualities have been a key ingredient in the Farney County's push for promotion. A teak tough defender, he leads by example in everything he does and few forwards recall marking Mone with any great fondness.

7. Sean Leo McGoldrick (Derry)

Like McKaigue, McGoldrick has been an influential figure for Derry. He orchestrates matters from the half-back line for the Oak Leafers and uses his experience to good effect. The competition's surprise packets will look to McGoldrick to maintain his rich vein of form for the remainder of the league.

8. David Moran (Kerry)

Injury-plagued Moran has been a welcome addition to the Kingdom midfield during the league campaign. Powerful, mobile and clever on the ball, Moran adds and extra dimension to Kerry midfield and Eamon Fitzmaurice will be keeping his fingers cross than he can steer clear of injury for the remainder of 2014.

9. Jason Gibbons (Mayo)

The Ballintubber clubman has emerged from the shadows of the O'Shea brothers and Barry Moran to make a strong case for one of the two starting midfield berths on the Mayo team come championship time. With a lot of teams struggling for midfielders, Gibbons has provided James Horan with a welcome headache.

10. Kevin McLoughlin (Mayo)

The industrious half-forward is Mayo's top scorer with 1-24 in their six games to date. He was particularly effective in their draw against Dublin last Saturday evening, scoring 1-3 and was also on the receiving end of a kick from Dublin captain Stephen Cluxton.

11. Mark Lynch (Derry)

The Derry captain has certainly led by example and is the top scorer in Division 1 with 2-33. His 1-8 against All-Ireland champions Dublin was one of the stand out individual performances of the league. If the Ulster men are to round of their league campaign in style, they will need Lynch firing on all cylinders.

12. Conor Sweeney (Tipperary)

Tipperary youngster Sweeney has shot the lights out in Division 4 and one of the main reasons that the Premier County have secured promotion to Division 3 for next season. He leads the overall league scoring charts with a whopping 5-36 registered in their six games so far.

13. Darren McCurry (Tyrone)

A diminutive corner-forward with an eye for the goal, McCurry has been largely responsible for keeping the scoreboard ticking over for Mickey Harte's charges. He has put his name to 3-15 for the Red Hand County and will be a man Dublin will have to keep a close eye on this weekend.

14. James O'Donoghue (Kerry)

Kerry fans hoped O'Donoghue would deliver in the absence of his injured fellow All-Star Colm Cooper and he hasn't disappointed with a total haul of 5-20. He made a name for himself as the first Kerryman to score a hat-trick in a league game in Killarney against Tyrone.

15. Kevin McManamon (Dublin)

Renowned as an 'impact sub', McManamon has given Jim Gavin plenty of food for thought with a string of stirling displays from the start for the double holders. His knack for goal scoring has broken the hearts of opposition defences and his manager will find it hard to leave him out of his starting 15.
