25 October 2011 - A weekend to forget for both seniors and reserves

Back to the Club Page

Our minors take pride of place this week after securing another county championship success for the club when defeating neighbours Four Masters in Glenties last Sunday. In a very well contested final which was level at half time 0 - 4 to 1 - 1 and level again 10 minutes into the second half, our boys showed their superiority in the final 20 minutes, scoring 5 points without reply to run out deserving winners on an 11 points to 1 - 3 scoreline. Each and every one of the players played their part in this victory as did the management team of John McGroary, Tom Dunleavy and John 'Cookie' Meehan who deserve great thanks for their work with the team, not alone on Sunday but since their first training session way back in February.

We are now getting used to the after match tour of the parish although going round the opposite way changed the outlook somewhat this time. Afterwards players, management and officials enjoyed an excellent meal in the clubrooms provided by The Village Tavern. Many thanks to Sheerin's Londis, Mountcharles (Seamus and Ann Marie) and Donegal Hardware for sponsorship for the boys in the run up to the final.

A weekend to forget for both seniors and reserves, when both teams fielded very much depleted sides and lost comprehensively to Aodh Ruadh at home on Saturday evening in the all county league.

This Sunday our seniors take to the road, in the unfamiliar territory of the Ulster Intermediate Club Championship when we play the Armagh county champions, Culloville Blues, in the Morgan Athletic Grounds, Armagh at 2.30. Your continued support would be greatly appreciated by Brian and the boys for this game and also for the 5 remaining league games.

Personalized photo montages taken at the intermediate final of any selected player or players in a frame, prepared by photographer Michael O'Donnell, are now available to order through Brian McCabe (087 7567036). DVD's of the final, filmed and produced by Jackson Media (Brendan O'Donnell), can be ordered from Edward Maguire (087 9158763).

There was no winner of last weekend's Slotto jackpot, winners of 40 Euro each for nearest to correct sequence were Brian Byrne, Mountcharles and Sinead Gallagher c/o The Lazy Bush, sequence drawn was 1-4-5-3-7-6 & 2. This weekend's jackpot will be 2,050 Euro.

St. Naul's Ladies are hosting a Halloween Fancy Dress "Take Me Out" this Sunday 30th October in The Lazy Bush Bar, Mountcharles commencing at 9.30. Music on the night is by "The Elements" and tickets are €5. Fancy dress is not essential for audience but all contestants will be in fancy dress. Tickets are available from any member of the ladies team and on the door on the night. Could be a good place for players to unwind after the journey from Armagh.

Many thanks to Oliver Wilson whose term on our Fás community scheme has finished, Oliver has done a great job for the past 3 years as anyone visiting our pitch and dressing rooms can vouch for. Good luck Oliver and thanks again for all your work.
