Back to the Club Page

St Naul's along with all other clubs in the county are hosting a quiz this Friday night (19th) (at 9 o'clock) to help defray the cost involved in preparing the county team for the All Ireland semi-final, our venue is The Lazy Bush Bar, Mountcharles with quiz master, Paul Mulroe.

Details from the Co. Board are as follows;
Donegal GAA are happy to announce that an All County Quiz (Sponsored by the Abbey Hotel) will take place in selected venues in every Donegal Club area on Friday night 19th August 2011. Highland radio have kindly agreed to broadcast the quiz and each venue will be linked into Highland radio to receive the questions and the answers. People unable to be present at any of the county wide venues will be able to listen to the special Quiz programme on Highland Radio and will also be able to listen to the quiz programme anywhere in the world by accessing Highland Radio via www.highlandradio.com. As part of their coverage Highland will be contacting a number of the venues to assess the atmosphere and to speak to various local GAA personalities.

The quiz will consist of eight rounds of general questions and one round of music questions. Participants will pay 10 Euro to take part in the quiz and will form teams to a maximum of four members. A Quizmaster and Co-ordinator will be present at each venue to mark the answer sheets and declare the final scores in each venue.

In addition a specially commissioned Picture Frame containing a hand mounted unique "Ulster Championship Winners 2011" Donegal jersey and team photograph will be auctioned at each quiz venue.

Each winning team, apart from winning the prize in their local venue, shall also progress to the All County Final which will be held in the Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town on Thursday 25th August (Time to be confirmed).

All proceeds from this first ever live All County Quiz shall be paid into the player's training fund and we hope that all Donegal fans throughout the County and beyond will support the team by participating in this and other fundraising initiatives.

Both seniors and reserves play Carndonagh at home this Saturday evening in the all county league. This is a very tight division with every point counting; Brian, Patrick and the boys would appreciate a good turn out of supporters for all remaining games. Throw in times are likely to be 5.30 and 7 o'clock. (See fixtures section of local papers for confirmation).

The August monthly meeting will be held in the clubhouse on Monday week 29th August at 9 o'clock (note this is a week later than usual so that result of semi final will be known). The draw for All Ireland final tickets will take place at this meeting.

There was no winner of last weekend's Slotto jackpot, winners of 40 Euro each for nearest to correct sequence were Liam Higgins and Neil Kelly, (both Frosses), sequence drawn was 6-1-4-7-3-2 & 5. This weekend's jackpot will be 1,350 Euro.

It is hoped to distribute the All Ireland semi-final tickets on Thursday evening next (25th) in the clubhouse at 9 o'clock. Anyone requiring their ticket before then is asked to contact Tina.
