Burt
No matches were played at Senior level this week due to the Nicky Rackard Cup commitments for Donegal. We had 11 players involved in the squad, but Donegal were beaten by Monaghan in controversial circumstance.
There will be no senior fixtures as the club has a free weekend. Best wishes to Brendan McDermott and his fiancé Joanne Evans who get married on Saturday.
Last Wednesday the Senior hurlers played Derry side Na Magha in a friendly match at the Hibernian. The level of hurling was hampered by the very wet conditions which saw Burt win 1-19 to 1-8.
There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week. Eamon Reddin and Danny Dowds each win ?20. The numbers drawn were 3, 7, 5, 6, 4, 1, 2. Next week's jackpot is ?550. Anyone with lotto's should have them in the clubhouse by Thursday night or hand it to any club member.
The minor footballers continued their good form last week with two victories. Last Monday they played Letterkenny Gaels in the Donegal Championship, and earned a narrow 2-10 to 2-9 win in the first leg. The following night they played Urris away in the second leg fixture of the Inishowen league, winning 2-15 to 1-9 to progress to the final of this stage.
The u-10 footballers travelled to Moville last Saturday morning, and along with the host club and Urris, played two games. Youngsters from all clubs displayed plenty of competition and skill, and the good conditions made the games enjoyable for everyone. Many thanks to all the parents who helped out and carpooled on the day. Reminder there will be no underage football training again this Saturday.
While the u-16 hurlers had their match cancelled by their Donegal Town opponents, the u-12 hurlers played a sub numbered Four Masters side at home last Thursday evening, and won 2-5 to 2-2.
This Thursday night the u-16 hurlers are home to Buncrana in the Donegal League while the u-12s travel to Buncrana for their match.
Underage football training on Saturday morning at the pitch will not be on this weekend, to give players a little rest. Word of u-10 football blitzes will be notified to parents. New members are always welcome with plenty of opportunity for everyone to get a game at blitzes. We hope to run a wee blitz at Burt in the coming weeks.
Underage hurling training and camogie training is on Monday evenings from 6.30pm to 8pm. Please remember to bring helmet, equipment etc.
Under-14 and u-16 hurling training on Thursday night is off due to the u-16 match against Buncrana. Reminder for underage players that membership is now overdue, ?10 per child.
Carn
The minor team beat Fanad Gaels in the Minor Championship Division 2 preliminary round first leg on Monday last. Playing against a stiff breeze in the first half Carn trailed by two points at half time. In the second half it took the team a long time to settle but when Eanna Newton scored from a free kick, this set the scene for the rest of the game and Carn ran out comfortable winners, scoring a further 1-6 without reply. The final score Carn 2-11, Fanad Gaels 0-9. They travel to Fanad on Tuesday for the second leg, bus leaving the Diamond at 5.15pm.
The team with scorers were: Conor Burke, Conor McLaughlin, Conor Doherty, Patrick McLaughlin, Rory Ward (1-0), Paul McLaughlin, Karl Diver, Richard Cunningham (0-1), Padraig Doherty, Eanna Newton (1-5), Andrew Doherty, Robin O Doherty, Shane Doherty (0-1), Paul McCarroll, Fergal Doherty (0-4). Subs: Michael Stevens and Conor Keddy.
The u14 footballers recorded another good victory beating St Michael's Dunfanaghy on Wednesday in the Northern Board league. Carn were in control of the game from the start and played good entertaining football throughout the game. Liam Coyle had an outstanding game and midway through the first half he raced upfield from his right half back position to kick an inspirational point. On the other wing, Fionn McLaughlin who is normally found on the half forward line was relishing his first game at half back and his defensive qualities and good distribution of the ball have been noted by the management. He also linked well with the forwards and scored 1-2. In the forward line Conor McCormick scored three excellent points and Caomhan Canny scored 1-2 but the forwards must work harder as a unit to convert more of the scoring opportunities that come their way. Scoring a total of 4-14, the scorers were Conor Fagan 1-3, Fionn McLaughlin 1-2, Caomhan Canny 1-2, Ciaran O'Callaghan 1-0, Conor McCormick 0-3, Evan Doherty 0-2, Liam Coyle 0-1 and Christopher Doherty 0-1. Many thanks to all that helped with the refreshments after the game.

The seniors overcame Downings on a score of 2-6 to 0-7 with good displays from Sean O'Hare, Tony McGeady, Danny Murphy and Seamus Hegarty. The reserves recorded a big win away to St Michael's.

The Seniors were away to Naomh Ultan on Saturday evening and unfortunately were unable to end their recent losing streak. They started the game brightly and opened the scoring with a Barry Hegarty point. Mark and Martin Duffy added further points and Damian Diver scored three points, including two from the sideline. Naomh Ultan hit back each time though in a close fought first half. The home side thought they had the lead at half time as they hit the net late on. However, Naomh Pádraig levelled matters in the dying seconds of the first half as Raymond McLaughlin drew a fine save from the keeper and followed through to punch the rebound to the net to leave it 1-6 apiece at half time. The second half turned out to be a scrappy affair with each attack breaking down in the final third of the pitch. A Damian Diver free was all that Naomh Pádraig registered in the second half as Naomh Ultan notched up three points to make it Naomh Ultan 1-09 Naomh Pádraig 1-07.
Elsewhere on the pitch last week, the U14's recorded their second victory of the season with an impressive win away to Moville on a scoreline of Moville 4-7 Naomh Pádraig 5-7.
Meanwhile the Ladies are in action on Wednesday evening as they host Convoy in the first round of the Junior Championship. Throw in is at 7.30pm.

Urris
The Summer camp proved to be an outstanding success last week with a hundred budding GAA stars in attendance at Straid. The children were blessed with the weather and despite dire warnings on a couple of days they got through the week dry (if you exclude the water-fight on the last afternoon). The Club would like to thank all the children for their exemplary behaviour and looks forward to them being associated with, and playing for, the Club over many years to come.
Urris GAA club would especially like to thank all the coaches who made the week such a good one from the children's point of view, and anyone else who helped out in any way over the course of the camp. We are also mindful of the sponsors VHI who supply the kits and bags which the children get at the end of the camp and would like to thank them for their continued sponsorship which keep these camps running every year.
There will be a table quiz in the Rusty Nail this Friday evening in aid of the Development Draw. Get your team together and get to the Rusty early to ensure a good table where you can pit your wits against the cream of Clonmany's brains. Quiz gets underway at around 10pm.
Members are reminded that it is very important that all Development Draw tickets are returned as soon as they have been sold. Part payments should also be given to Edward McLaughlin as soon as you have them. Sellers willing to go door to door in different areas of Inishowen are still needed so if you are willing to help out give John Friel or Edward McLaughlin a call.
There was no Senior matches last weekend and with Donegal due to play this weekend fixtures must be doubtful again, the lads should check at training as always.
Admission to Donegal's match against Roscommon on Saturday evening in Ballybofey will not be an all ticket affair. The game throws in at 5pm and admission will be at the turnstiles on the night, prices are as follows; Stand ?20, Terraces ?15, OAP's and Students ?10 (with valid ID) and children under 16 are free.
The U12 boys and girl's teams will be travelling to the game in Ballybofey on Saturday in recognition of the great season that both teams had. The bus will be leaving from Straid at 3pm. Parents can contact John Friel or Paul McLaughlin if they have any questions about the trip.
The u16 girls put in a strong performance last Thursday when the girls of Fanad came to Straid, they secured a good win which is testament to their efforts after a three week layoff. Fixtures are still no clearer and the girls need to keep in touch with Danny to find out if they have a match this week.
U12 girls training will continue on Wednesday evenings from 4.30pm to 5.30pm and will be told then about upcoming fixtures. Parents should call Paul if the weather is bad to check if training is on.
The U14 boys take on Buncrana this week in their last league match and will need a win if they are to have any chance of reaching the A final. They are guaranteed at least a third or fourth place finish but it would be nice to see them get into the main final. The lads should check with Paul for training and match times over the next few weeks because these are still subject to change.
The U10 boys and girls had a very busy week last week, many of them were at the Summer camp all week as well as competing in three matches against Carndonagh, Burt and Moville. Performances were good from everyone who took part during the games and the team gets better looking every time it takes to the field. There will be a blitz coming up in two or three weeks time and so it has been decided to keep training going on Thursday evenings at 6.30pm, Saturday mornings may also be used if the weather is bad during the week.
The years drawn in the Urris Match and Win last week were: 1960, 1965, 1974 and 1978. The Jackpot wasn't claimed and next week's Jackpot will now be ?3,300. The winners of ?15 were: Danny Noone, Tornabratley; Jim Porledus, Malin Head; Packie Farren, Clonmany; Eileen Collins, Drumcarbit, Malin; Helen Farren, Straid.
