Senior Football: On Sunday Glen travelled to Owenbeg for the eagerly anticipated preliminary round of the senior championship, with the new straight knockout adding extra significance. Swatragh had won the previous meeting in the league so Glen knew a tough battle was in store. Right from off, Glen's defence set the tone with the full back line in particular outstanding. Danny Tallon soon got Glen off the mark from a free kick a tight angle. Danny and his full forward line partner Paul Gunning were causing Swatragh a lot of trouble and within 15 minutes, both players had found the Swatragh net. Emmett Bradley also got in on the scoring act and kicked over a fantastic point to leave the half time score Glen 2-06 Swatragh 0-03. Glen weren't as fluid in the immediate period after the restart however soon settled into their game. Ciaran McFaul and Danny Tallon added further points before substitutes Tiarnan Flanagan and Connlan Bradley also fired over. Glen's rear-guard were successful in limiting Swatragh to converted frees and 45's before Emmett Bradley fisted to the Swatragh net after a defensive mix-up. Final score Glen 3.12 Swatragh 0.07. Well done to the players and management.
