Minor Football: The minors travelled to a cold and windy Drumsurn for their second match of the Minor League. Despite winning the toss we opted to play against the strong wind for the opening half and although we created many scoring opportunities a number of these were wasted, 4 of which were missed goal chances, with Drumsurn making the most of the wind and being very clinical in front of the posts, converting most of the chances which came their way resulting in them taking a 7 point lead into the half time break, which could have been more only for two fine saves from our goalkeeper Caolan Convery. Alex Doherty, Eoghan Young, Conleth McGuckian, Eunan Mulholland and Dara Higgins contributing to our 6 points in the first half. Half Time Score: Glen 0-06 Drumsurn 1-10. The second half was to be a different affair and with the wind now at our backs the lads penned Drumsurn into their own half and started to play some nice first time football and began to chip away at the home side's 7 point lead. With our defence on top and midfield now totally dominant we took control of the game pushing forward at will and by the 20 minute mark of the second half the scores were now level, with a goal coming from the boot of Tiarnan McCusker who was now playing at full forward. Drumsurn scoring just 1 point in those 20 minutes highlighting the performance of our defence. We then went two points clear and that lead was extended further when Dara Higgins dispatched the ball to the net with 8 minutes to go. Despite some late pressure from Drumsurn the work rate of all of our lads ensured they were kept at bay until they scored a dubious goal with the last kick of the game, leaving 2 between the sides at the full time whistle. Full Time Score: Glen 2-13 Drumsurn 2-11. An excellent second half performance to ensure a second victory in two games.
