Senior Football: Glen travelled to Bellaghy on Saturday evening for their third league game of the season. Bellaghy opened the scoring and got the first two points, one from free and one from play. Emmett Bradley then opened Glen's account and got point from play however were rocked when Bellaghy fired in a goal. Emmett Bradley got second from play but Bellaghy pointed again. Glen got next two points, Danny Tallon from play and Emmett Bradley again from a free. Bellaghy hit back with two more points again one from play and one from a free. John McCamley then got in on the scoring act and added a fine point but Bellaghy added two more points from play. Emmett converted a 45m but Bellaghy scored three from play before half time leaving Glen trailing by five on scoreline of Glen 1-5 Bellaghy 1-10 and ruing the several missed goal chances throughout the half. After the interval, Glen pulled back the deficit to a single point with four points by Emmett, three from frees and one from play. Bellaghy pointed from play before Emmett converted two more frees to draw level. Bellaghy pulled one ahead again but Glen then took the lead for the first time with points from Danny Tallon and Connlan Bradley. Bellaghy got the final point of the game from a free to share the points. Glen also squandered another few goal chances in this half and hit the crossbar to leave the final score Glen 1-13 Bellaghy 1-13. Glen scorers: Emmett Bradley (0-10), John McCamley (0-1), Danny Tallon (1-1), and Connlan Bradley (0-1).

 

Reserve Football: In the preceding game against Bellaghy reserves, Glen kept up their unbeaten run with a fine 2-10 to 0-13 win.

 

Under 16 Football: The Under 16's hosted Ballinascreen on Thursday evening. Played in glorious conditions it turned out to be a fantastic specific with both teams to be commended for their displays. Ballinascreen raced to an early lead curtesy of two well taken goals, however Glen kept in touch with some well taken points with Alex Doherty leading the charge. Half time score Glen 0-06 Ballinascreen 2-05. After the interval Glen went on the offensive and played super football, kicking goals and points from every angle and soon built up a commanding lead. With limited time remaining, Ballinascreen staged a spirited comeback however the Glen lads held on for a super win. Final score Glen 6-11 Ballinascreen 6-10.

 

Senior Camogie: The Senior Camogs suffered a disappointing 4-07 to 0-07 loss against Newbridge mid-week. The girls will be hoping to get back on track against Glenullin on Thursday night at Watty Graham Park.

 

Golf Day: The highly anticipated Glen Golf Day will return this year on Friday 17th June at Moyola Park Golf Club. Keep an eye on the Glen website for details on how to book 4-balls as well as information on hole sponsorship and prizes.

 

Jim McGuigan Cup: Thanks to all club members who helped out on Saturday morning at Glen Pitch with the stewarding of two games between Tyrone and Donegal. The first game was the Ulster Minor League Final and the second game was the Ulster Under 17 Final. Tyrone won the Under 17 game and was presented with a trophy named in honour of the late Jim McGuigan.

 

Commiserations: Commiserations to St Patrick's Maghera in their D'alton Cup Final loss to Abbey CBS on Thursday. St Pat's went down by 4 points after extra time. We were represented by Jody McDermott, Tiernan Higgins, Shea Convery and coach Donal Convery.

 

Fundamentals Training: Training continues every Wednesday 6.45pm - 7.30pm. The Glen Centre - The Main Hall. For children in final year play school, Primary 1 & Primary 2. New and returning children will be made very welcome!

 

Kash4Klubs: KlubFunder.com have teamed up with local insurance broker, "Find Insurance NI" to provide sports clubs across the North of Ireland with a new initiative to help raise additional funds for the club. How it works: Kash4Klubs offers clubs a way to generate additional income by referring their members to purchase their Home, Motor or Business insurance through Find Insurance NI. In return, clubs will receive a payment for each policy a member takes out. Clubs will receive £20 per policy for the initial sale and a continuing payment of £5 for each renewal. Club Glen: Members of the Club Glen committee are now actively trying to increase the number of members in our direct debit scheme. Running costs of our club are in excess of £1500 per week the Club Glen scheme is a fantastic and easy way of fundraising. We have over 200 signed up members but need more to follow suit. Please sign up and pay £10 per month (only £2.50 per week).

 

Laochra: Congratulations to Jack Gunning who was selected to take part in the special event at Croke Park on Sunday to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising. Jack played an important part in the fantastic 'Laochra' show and helped to read the proclamation and honour the brave men and woman of 1916.
