Derry minor manager Damian McErlain is adamant that more has to be done at underage level in the county.
The Oakleafers reached their first All-Ireland MFC semi-final since 2007 when defeated by Kerry last Sunday.
McErlain stressed to the County Derry Post that this year's achievement was borne out of one year's work and more needs to be done at underage level to ensure that it is not another eight years before they get back to an All-Ireland.
"There's a whole lot of things that need to happen in Derry before we start to get a stream of success," said McErlain.
"This was through one year's work really. At the minute, the development squad structures aren't what they need to be. They aren't what they are in Kerry.
"Looking at the Kerry lads when they took their shirts off, you'd know there's a physical development in their county that isn't going on in our county at 15 and 16."
