Our chosen charities this year are both local and very worthy - The Fort Centre (Riding School for the Disabled) and Charis Integrated Cancer Care. Registration costs £20 which will cover the cost of a specially commissioned jersey. Please download the registration form of the website and return to Eamon Convery, Sean Keane, Conor Molloy or Gene Devlin. Each cyclist is asked to raise a minimum of £150 sponsorship. After donations to both charities all the funds will be assigned to the provision of new floodlights for the top playing pitch.
Senior Football: Glen travelled to Lavey on Monday past. Both teams were short a host of regulars however it was still competitive. Paul Gunning and Conor Convery were Glen's main scorers in the opening half. Glen should've been well in front however the concession of a soft goal lead the scores being close at the interval on a scoreline of 0-09 to 1-04. Ryan Dougan opened the scoring for Glen after the break however another soft goal left the teams level again. Glen responded well and Michael Warnock and Paul Gunning hit great points and then Paul Gunning palmed Mark O'Donnell cross to the Lavey net to move five points clear going into the closing minutes. Connlan Bradley fired over Glen's last point of the evening to leave the final score Lavey 2-06 Glen 1-13.
Ladies Football: On Friday 7th of August Glen Ladies took on Ballinascreen in Magherafelt.  From the throw in it was evident that this was going to be a low scoring affair.  Glen started the first 10 minutes in a very nervous manner.  Several poor wides meant that despite them being on top in terms of procession they were unable to make it count on the score board. But eventually Glen managed to get the opening score of the half.  A free kick from midfielder Kivlehan was fisted into the back of the net by full forward Kielt.  This seemed to help settle the Glen girls as after some excellent work from corner back Glasgow, Kerr hit the first point of the match.  That was to be the last score of the first half.  The Ballinascreen forward line was being held scoreless by the Glen defence. They did manage to get through once but Cassidy made an excellent save to deny them.  Ballinascreen found it hard to break down the defence which was being well marshalled by McGrath at full back and McMaster at centre half back whose influence grew as the game progressed.  Glen finished strongly in the half but again failed to make it count on the scoreboard. Half time:  Glen 1-01 Ballinascreen 0-00. Glen were dealt a blow when influential midfielder Caoimhe Moran was unable to take to the field for the start of the second half.  Ballinascreen were adopting a more physical and defensive approach in the second half.  Despite this it was Glen who started the better and got off to an excellent start when full forward O'Loughlin scored a goal after some excellent work from corner forward McGroggan.  Glen again managed to dominate procession and were putting together some excellent phases of play but were still hitting some bad wides.  Ballinascreen managed to turn over one of these attacks and broke down the wing, flicked the ball into the middle and scored a goal to open their account in the game.  Glen were a bit shaken by this and by some of the very aggressive tackling they were receiving from their opponents.  Finally after one bad tackle too many, a Screen player received a yellow card and Glen had a numerical advantage for 10 minutes. This seemed to unhinge Glen and Screen responded with another goal to leave the minimum between the teams.  Moran re-entered the field and her presence had a big effect.  She won crucial ball and helped Glen move forward.  Dearbhla McNicholl then hit a point after some excellent defensive work from substitutes Ciara Mulholland and Daire McKenna.  Again Ballinascreen tried to break down the Glen defence but the defence stood firm and after good work from Heavron and McRory, Glen drove up the field and won a free.  Kielt's free hit the crossbar and it was O'Loughlin who reacted quickest and put the game beyond doubt with her second goal.  Kerr then hit the final point of the game.  It was left to goalkeeper Bridgeen Cassidy (who picked up her 17th Derry championship winners medal) to have the final say as she pulled of a point blank save to deny Ballinascreen a consolation goal.  This was an excellent result for a very young Glen team who had 8 minors who made their senior championship debuts.  They now progress to the Ulster Club Championship with a home game against the winners of the Tyrone Championship on Sunday, 4th of October. Full time:  Glen 3-03 Ballinascreen 2-00. Glen Team: B Cassidy, F McRory, M McGrath, A Glasgow, B Heavron, D McMaster, Caoimhe Mulholland, C Moran, D Kivlehan, S Kerr (0-02), C Kielt (1-00), C McKenna, D McNicholl (0-01), C McGroggan, B O'Loughlin(2-00)  Subs:  D McKenna for Caoimhe Mullholland, Ciara Mullholland for C Moran, C Moran for C McKenna, E Talbott for D McNicholl.
