Minor win hailed

April 17, 2015

Derry minor hurling manager Stephen O'Kane paid tribute to his players following their Ulster league final win over Antrim.

A two-point win over Antrim at any level is a great result but to do it in a final is even better as Derry thoroughly deserved their victory.

Derry hit 13 wides in total and dominated for long periods, but O'Kane told the County Derry Post that it was all about the result.

"We missed enough chances to win three games," said O'Kane. "We hit 13 wides but that is something for us to work in in training. We can easily polish up that area in shooting practice under pressure.

"But look it is a good result. The boys have been working hard and they have put in a serious effort since January and it's great to get a trophy. But at the end of the day it's May 30th that we are all working towards with the championship match against Donegal."
