Under 14 Football: The Under 14 Feile na nOg team continued their Feile fixtures on
Sunday morning against Lavey and Ballinascreen. In the opening fixture against
Lavey, Glen were well in the game for the majority of the fixture until the concession
of late goals put the game beyond them. Final score Glen 103 Lavey 601. When
Ballinascreen defeated Lavey comprehensively in the second game, the omens didn't
look good for our last game against Screen. However the Glen lads showed great
determination and grit and came out on top on a scoreline of Glen 007 to
Ballinascreen 006. Glen will travel to Kilrea next Sunday where the will face
Magherafelt (10.00pm) and Kilrea (11.40am)
Minor Ladies: All County Ladies Minor Football league Rd 1. Glen Minor ladies
recently commenced their league with a game against Magherafelt. Magherafelt
recorded the first score of the game with a point but Glen quickly responded with
two points from full forward Clare McGroggan and a goal from midfielder Orla
Higgins. After some wasteful shooting from the Glen forwards, Magherafelt
responded with two points of their own from frees through their full forward. But
Glen finished the half the stronger with another point from McGroggan after great
work from Lauren Kelly and two points from centre half forward Brenna O'Loughlin.
Half time: Magherafelt 003 Glen 105. Glen got off to the perfect start in the second
half with a goal from Brenna O'Loughlin and another point from McGroggan.
Magherafelt then had a period of dominance which resulted in a goal for the home
side. It could have been more but for some excellent goalkeeping from Rachel
Glasgow and consistent defending from Aimee Glasgow, Daire McKenna, Anna
McGuigan and Ciara Mulholland. Glen got back on top around the middle of the
field through McKenna and an excellent catch and through ball from her led to the
third Glen goal from Brenna O'Loughlin. Despite centre half back Ciara Mulholland
picking up a yellow card and being reduced to 14, Glen finished the stronger team.
This was due to the hard work of the Glen Half backs (Lauren O'Loughlin and
Caoimhe Mulholland) and half forwards (Niamh Caskey and Aine Carlin). Glen
outscored Magherafelt two points to one in this period with the Glen scores coming
from McGroggan and Deirbhle McNicholl. Final Score: Magherafelt 104 Glen 308.
