Derry and Kerry recorded excellent wins in Division 2A of the national hurling league this afternoon.

The Oak Leaf County maintained their unbeaten record and moved up alongside Kerry into joint second-place on the table after defeating Westmeath by 2-15 to 3-10 in a thriller at Owenbeg.

Declan Foley's last-minute goal proved to be the decisive score in a match that the hosts led by 1-9 to 1-5 at half time.

Meanwhile, at Arklow, a goal in either half from Sean Weir set the Kingdom on their way towards a facile 2-20 to 1-6 victory over Wicklow.

That result also keeps Kerry, who drew with Derry in the first round, very much in the hunt with three points garnered out of a possible four. Carlow, who beat London yesterday, are top of the table with four points.
