Joe Brolly believes the GAA's "commercial juggernaut" is putting the Association's amateur ethos at risk.
And the RTE football pundit claims county board officials are being kept in the dark about key decisions that are being made in the wake of the recent PR disasters regarding the cancelled Garth Brooks concerts and the decision to stage an American football college game at Croke Park last Saturday, which resulted in Kerry and Mayo having to replay their All-Ireland SFC semi-final in Limerick.
"What we need to do now is to set up a task force under the new president (Aogan O Fearghail) and we need to look at what amateur means, what our ideals are," Brolly says in the Belfast Telegraph.
"What do we believe in - do we believe in any of our core values anymore? Decisions are being made behind closed doors and even officials from county boards don't know.
"They are done, we are told, for commercial reasons, and there is a general feeling among many that the commercial juggernaut has left the station."
