Michael davitt GAC Swatragh club notes

July 28, 2014
The senior hurlers eventually eased into the semi finals of the championship after beating Na Magha on Thursday evening past. A spirited opening half from the citysiders plus a few nervous moments in the Swatragh defence saw Na Magha rattled in three goals. Thanks to a goal from the perennial Michael Conway, the Davitts led at the break by the minimum on a scoreline of 1-12 to 3-05. The second half saw the Davitts establish control and powered home on a scoreline of 3-22 to 3-06 with goal each from Ruairi and Chrissy Convery.

The reserve footballers lost out to table toppers Slaughtneil who maintained their 100% record winning 3-16 to 1-08. The U16 footballers beat championship opponents Magherafelt in the final league game of the year at Rossa Park 5-09 to 2-09. The U12 footballers beat both Glen and hosts Ballinascreen in the Mini League on Saturday past. They defeated the Wattys 4-03 to 2-01 and beat the 'Screen 2-02 to 2-01.

The club is hoping to organise a charity cycle in association with Carn Wheelers later in the year. There would be three routes involved with a novice, intermediate and experienced circuit to cover all levels of ability. We are aware that other clubs are organising their own cycle dates so we do not wish to clash. The initial date would be early September so that would give us 12 weeks to get organised. Please contact the club if you have any ideas or suggestions for dates and routes.

Club lotto numbers on Saturday past were 5,10,12 and 13. There were no jackpot winners but lucky dip winners were Anne Mooney and Liam Doherty. Jackpot currently stands at £2800. Bingo takes place every Sat night at 9pm with the jackpot at £2500 for 42 numbers.

Would you like to do the club lotto every week? Is there ever a week when you forget or are on holiday? How would you feel if that was the week your numbers came up? The jackpot has went twice in the last 4 months with both winners receiving at least £5000!!! Worry not, you can sign up for a standing order which means you don't have to fill out a slip every week but will still be entered and can use your same numbers without fear of ever forgetting them. Call into to club registrar Noel McGrath and he can sign you up in a matter of minutes.

The club shop is open in Mary O'Kane's shop on Main St, Monday to Friday throughout the summer months.
