Michael Davitt GAC club notes

July 21, 2014
The senior footballers were in action against Glenullin at home. The first half ended all square 1-05 to 0-08 with the Mitchells getting the only goal of the first half. A second goal from Glenullin extended their lead to four. Swatragh reduced the deficit to the minimum but could not manage to get on levels terms as Glenullin won 2-08 to 0-13. The reserve footballers drew with Glenullin 1-10 to 3-04.

The minor footballers maintained their excellent league with two recent victories to leave them joint top of the league. First up were Slaughtneil at Emmett Park where a litany of missed goal chances looked like costing the Davitts victory as Slaughtneil whittled away Swatragh's lead to a single point. But a late goal from Sean F Quinn ensured victory on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-11. Next up were Bellaghy at Davitt Park on Sunday past, an excellent team performance saw the Davitts win comfortably on a scoreline of 5-12 to 0-12 with goals coming from Fintan McGurk (2), Sean F Quinn, Niall McAtamney and Pearse McWilliams.

The club is hoping to organise a charity cycle in association with Carn Wheelers later in the year. There would be three routes involved with a novice, intermediate and experienced circuit to cover all levels of ability. We are aware that other clubs are organising their own cycle dates so we do not wish to clash. The initial date would be early September so that would give us 12 weeks to get organised. Please contact the club if you have any ideas or suggestions for dates and routes.

Club lotto numbers on Saturday past were 5,10,19 and 25 and on Saturday 12th July were 2,8,17 and 25. There were no jackpot winners but lucky dip winners were Isla Mooney, Bernie Higgins, James Kearney (Keady) and Mary O'Boyle. Jackpot currently stands at £2700. Bingo takes place every Sat night at 9pm with the jackpot at £2500 for 42 numbers.

Would you like to do the club lotto every week? Is there ever a week when you forget or are on holiday? How would you feel if that was the week your numbers came up? The jackpot has went twice in the last 2 months with both winners receiving at least £5000!!! Worry not, you can sign up for a standing order which means you don't have to fill out a slip every week but will still be entered and can use your same numbers without fear of ever forgetting them. Call into to club registrar Noel McGrath and he can sign you up in a matter of minutes.

The club shop is open in Mary O'Kane's shop on Main St, Monday to Friday throughout the summer months.
