Senior Football: The seniors hosted Lissan last Friday night in their third last league game, needing a win to keep their hopes of winning the league and automatic promotion alive. That they did after a commanding first half performance and the game was really over as a contest at half time. In the first seven minutes Glen had scored five points without reply - the first from veteran Mark O'Donnell, followed by an Emmet Bradley free kick, balding wing half back Odhran Bradley scored a rare point off the outside of the right boot, another from O'Donnell and one from Ciaran McFaul. Ciaran had to retire after his point due to a foot injury and was replaced by Connlan Bradley. The points continued to come with two apiece from Stevie O'Hara and Emmet Bradley. Lissan had only registered a point at this stage but then scored a goal to leave the scores Glen 0-11 Lissan 1-01. That goal was cancelled out when Ryan Winton was fouled approaching goal and a penalty was awarded - corner back Oisin Hegarty stepped up to dispatch the ball expertly to the net, his second successful penalty in two games. The remaining points of the half came from O'Donnell and O'Hara with their third points of the day and this was added to by a first point from Michael Warnock. Lissan responded with just one point. Half Time Score: Glen 1-12 Lissan 1-02. The second half was largely different from the first with Lissan upping their game and determined to reduce the margin and to their credit they battled very hard. Odhran Bradley received a black card in the first minute of the half - a decision that baffled everyone in the ground - it was never a black card offence!! He was replaced by Brendan O'Kane. Lissan got the first point of the half and it took our lads nearly eight minutes to register the first point from a Michael Warnock free kick. Paul Gunning was introduced for Declan Brolly. The remainder of the game was point for point with Mark O'Donnell tormenting the visiting defence and ending up with another four points - seven in total for him for the game. Emmet Bradley also got two further points, one from a free. Lissan scored six points in reply to just lose the second half by the minimum margin. Full Time Score: Glen 1-19 Lissan 1-08. The biggest injustice of the half was the decision to rule out a fantastic and extremely rare point from Joe Bradley for a line ball that never was. Cheer up Joe...we have it on DVD! Team & Scorers: Andrew Warnock, Oisin Hegarty (1-00), Conor Gallagher, Ryan McDonnell, Declan Brolly, Joe Bradley (0-00), Odhran Bradley (0-01), Johnny Bradley, Emmet Bradley (0-05), Seanny McGroggan, Ciaran McFaul (0-01), Michael Warnock (0-02), Ryan Winton, Stevie O'Hara (0-03), Mark O'Donnell (0-07). Subs Used: Connlan Bradley for Ciaran McFaul, Brendan O'Kane for Odhran Bradley, Paul Gunning for Declan Brolly.
