ACFL Div 2: Greenlough 3-17 Drumsurn 1-14 (11/07/14) - Seniors return to winning ways at home to Drumsurn
After defeat at Glen last weekend, Greenlough's Seniors hoped to regroup with a home game against Drumsurn on Friday night, 11th July.

Wheras it took 15 minutes for Greenlough's first score last week, it took only 50 seconds this time, when Niall Loughlin opened the scoring with a fisted point.

Drumsurn responded with a pointed free after initially putting one wide a minute later, before Niall got his second, this time from a free. Brian McCallion and Connor Madden then pointed to equal their side's entire scoring from last week's game after just eight minutes.

The sides exhanged points in the tenth minute, Drumsurn scoring first before Niall Loughlin found the target again.

The visitors then hit two points in a minute, to close the gap to just one, only for Niall to score his fourth in the 12th minute.

A great goal from Connor Madden which saw his shot put the ball just inside the right hand post, followed by yet another point from Niall Loughlin after a good pass from Ryan Tohill, saw Greenlough move into a six point lead mid way through the first half.

With a good amount of possession and scoring chances, it was hard to believe that ten minutes later, Greenlough would have been level with the visitors. Six consecutive points from Drumsurn, with only one from a free, saw the North Derry men with ten points to Greenlough's 1-07.

And they could and possibly should have been ahead, as during their purple patch of scoring they also hit three wides.

Greenlough eventually got back to scoring ways twelve minutes after their previous score, when Ryan Tohill's shot was tipped over the bar for a point. Both sides had chances to score again before the break, but Greenlough's effort dropped short, while Drumsurn recorded their fifth and final wide of the first half, to leave one in it at the break.
Half-Time: Greenlough 1-08 Drumsurn 0-10

As with the first half, Greenlough started the second half brightly and after a wide Seamus Graham turned his man and pointed for his first of the game after just over a minute.

Again as the first half Niall Loughlin pointed a free after four minutes, this time after Cormac O'Neill was fouled; before two minutes later Cormac made a great before blasting to the roof of the net.

With the gap up to six Drumsurn eventually opened their scoring for the second half with a point after eight minutes only for Greenlough to go on another four minute scoring burst.

Brian McCallion fisted over his second of the day before Connor Madden first pointed, and then found the back of net with a low shot past the keeper to bring his tally to 2-2 shortly before going off injured. From the resulting kick-out after the goal Ryan Tohill pointed before Niall Loughlin completed the scoring burst with a point.

Drumsurn replied with two points before Niall Loughlin pointed from a free after a foul on Paul Quinn.

A great team move after a turnover within the Greenlough 20 meter line, was finished with a well taken point from substitue Matthew Bradley, before Niall Loughlin pointed his ninth of the day with three minutes of the game remaining, leaving Greenlough 13 ahead.

While that was the last score for the home side, Drumsurn still had time to find the net from a penaltyh and add a point, both in the final minute of the game, to leave nine in it as the full time whistle blew.
