July 07, 2014
Lotto Numbers: 22, 36 & 42. There was no winner of the £5000 jackpot. Next week's jackpot jumps to £5500. Please support the weekly lotto. If possible please download and complete the standing order form from the club website and pay monthly or quarterly. All lotto tickets with the old numbering convention should be scrapped.
Reserve Football: The senior reserve panel started off a great Sunday for the Watty's by claiming the league title with a game to spare after going unbeaten (on the pitch) throughout to date. Greenlough came to Watty Park looking to retain the title they won last year and both teams knew that a win would be enough. Glen started the better and went into an early lead thanks to some neat play and an early goal from Danny Tallon. Greenlough cut the deficit through a dubious penalty but this only sparked Glen into action and they fired over a number of good points. Stevie O'Hara got the second goal after Sean Gribbon's shot was saved and Stevie knocked in the rebound to leave them a number of points to the good but a Greenlough goal on the stroke of half time gave the visitors some hope. Glen continued to play good football in the second half but Greenlough weren't for rolling over and they got a goal. That was cancelled out however when Danny Tallon got his second goal of the day to put the tie beyond doubt, aided by a number of further points from the forwards. Final Score: Glen 3-13 Greenlough 3-03. Team & Scorers: Ciaran McCloy, Brendan O'Kane, Johnny Glass, Odhran Glass (0-01), Cathal Mulholland, Ben McGuckin, Dominic Carville, Damien McKernan, Sean Gribbon (0-01), Ryan Bradley (0-02), Aodhan McGrath (0-03), Paul Gunning (0-01), Stevie O'Hara (1-01), Connlan Bradley (0-03), Danny Tallon (2-01). Senior Football: The senior footballers faced table toppers Greenlough on a sun baked Watty Graham Park on Sunday afternoon in what was a vital league encounter for both teams. With several other league games postponed, a massive crowd was in attendance for this eagerly anticipated fixture. Although Glen were playing against a stiff breeze they started brightly and took the lead through an Emmet Bradley point however Greenlough soon responded through an Enda Lynn point. Mark O'Donnell soon pointed and this was followed by two quick fire Ryan Winton goals. Glen were in total control at this stage and a brilliant pass from Ryan Winton put Ciaran McFaul through on goal and he blasted to the net. Half Time score Glen 3-04 Greenlough 0-02. The second period continued in a similar vein with Glen scoring at will. Firstly came a fine individual effort from Mark O'Donnell and fine points soon followed from Ciaran McFaul, John McCamley, Mark O'Donnell, Spike Warnock, and Tommy McCloy. Greenlough responded with two points however the game was well over as a contest at this stage. The last two scores came from the Bradley brothers Connlan and Emmet. Final score Glen 3-17 Greenlough 0-04. Glen scorers Mark O'Donnell 0-04, Michael Warnock 0-03, Emmet Bradley 0-02, Ryan Winton 2-00, Ciaran McFaul 1-04, John McCamley 0-01, Tommy McCloy 0-01 and Connlan Bradley 0-01. Next up is a tough away trip to Slaughtmanus on Thursday evening. All support appreciated.

Camogie: The Under 14 camogs travelled to Magherafelt on Thursday to take on hot favourites Slaughtneil in the championship. Slaughtneil got off the mark first with a pointed free and followed this with a point from play but Glen took the lead when Bronagh Gallagher scored a goal. Bronagh then increased the lead when she scored her second goal. Slaughtneil added two points from play leaving the half time score Glen 2-0 Slaughtneil 0-4. In the second half Slaughtneil dominated much of the play but the Glen defence fought hard to curtail the Slaughtneil attack. Slaughtneil scored two points, one from a free and one from play to draw level. Sinead Gallagher replaced the unwell Rachel McCusker and Aishling Porter had to be moved into full forward after she picked up an injury. Slaughtneil were now on top and scored 2-2 without reply. Aishling Porter pointed a 45m free but Slaughtneil replied with a point. The final score of the game was by Aishling Porter with a point from play leaving the full time score Glen 2-2 Slaughtneil 2-9. Although the girls lost the game they worked very hard to keep the skilful Slaughtneil team at bay and have to be congratulated for their effort so far this year.
