Ulster SHC: Derry make no mistake
July 05, 2014
Derry's Ruairi Convery
Derry 2-19
Down 1-15
Derry made no mistake at the second time of asking to see off Down in today's Ulster SHC semi-final replay at the Athletic Grounds.
Goals from Ruairi Convery and Mickey Conway laid the foundations for the Oak Leaf County's seven-point victory.
Scott Nicholson opened the scoring for the Mourne County via a '65' in the 3rd minute but Derry enjoyed the better of the first-half exchanges.
Convery's goal arrived on the half hour mark and sent Ger Rogan's side in at the break with a 1-10 to 0-7 advantage.
Conway's goal put the end result beyond any doubt, leaving the scoreboard reading 2-18 to 0-13, although Down did manage to cut the deficit in the closing stages.
Derry now advance to a final meeting against Antrim on Sunday, July 13 at a venue to be decided.
