Winning isn't everything - O'Kane

Gerard O'Kane says playing in the league final is almost as important as winning it.

Derry will lock horns with holders Dublin in the decider at Croke Park on Sunday week and Oak Leaf defensive stalwart O'Kane believes that getting another run-out at HQ is the most important thing:

"It's all about keeping your focus for where you want to be," says the Glenullin clubman, who also played in the league finals of 2008 and 2009.

"If you want, you can get carried away and your feet can be off the ground but at the same time we probably have one eye on Donegal in several weeks' time. Dublin will be the same.

"The league is great preparation for championship football but it's the game at Croke Park that's the most important part for us," he continues in The Irish Daily Mirror.

"It's not even about winning the league. It's about being in Croke Park, getting our boys used to playing in this atmosphere because it definitely brings you on."
