It won't be long until the O'Byrne Cup starts! Has anyone any idea of the new names on the training squad? I assume Dempsey and Holloway are back after missing the last Championship.

Anyone at the game today. Winning 0-8 to 0-4 at half time but lost by 2-15 to 0-10.

Many regulars playing ? Meath didn't have too many anyway.

Didn't Meath beat Roscommon in a challenge game yesterday evening too?

Meath also had 14 players for the majority of the game.

Anyone know the two 15's?

Meath (v Westmeath): R Burlingham; D Smyth, D McQuillan, A Douglas; A Forde, P Brady, S O'Connor; J Toher, B Power; B Brennan, K Ross, D Larkin, B O'Brien, D Queeney, D Lenihan. Subs: S Curran, C Downey, C O'Sullivan, D Toner.

You'll be waiting for any Westmeath coverage I'm afraid. Not a word on-line anywhere as far as I can see.

Not too much to be read into it at this stage I suppose. We know already that we have a more limited pool of players to choose from than Meath. We've seen this before even in Obyrne Cup. Once we are geared up to hit the ground running in the League I guess.

Interesting to see Luke Loughlin back from NYC. Pity he's just out of U21 grade but will be a big help to The Downs.
I think he was playing with New York so should be in reasonable shape.

Wow. Very interesting to see Luke Loughlin back. Word on the street was that he was heading home, I thought it would not be until next year.
The man has bucket loads of talent. He was the best player in Gaelic Park versus Roscommon earlier this year. Only downfall is that he has a tendency to drift in and out of games and gets easily distracted. Regardless if he can be disciplined and stay focused at the football, I have no doubt he will make the Westmeath team 2017. Best of luck to him.

loughlin will be good addition to this division 4 team. that said, not enough talent to move this team forward to serious cahampionship contenders. manager will need to widen the net

Widen the net to where? Start looking for Dublin players like Meath are ?
Apart from that the manager is limited to the fish in his particular pond and making Westmeath championship contenders depends more on producing good underage teams again.

I see the game on Saturday is not on TV. Did TG4 not always historically show the D4 final? Anyways, it doesn't bother me as I will be there supporting the team as I have been for every game this year. I hope the team getting the support they deserve. Yes the standard is very poor down in division 4 but they have played better and better with each game. They can only beat what's in front of them!

I have 2 spare Adult tickets for Saturday, will sell the 2 of them for €30 to anyone interested.

Have to pick them up from the GAA Office on Saturday so could meet anyone around the Big Tree or that general area afterwards.

Stuart Lowndes and Stephen OConnor were trying out for Meath when that comment was made.
Nothing ridiculous about that comment. They are ex Dublin players. One transferred to Dunboyne this year , the other plays with Ballyboden still. What do you find ridiculous about it wd45?
