Rosemount GAA notes

May 15, 2017

Gaa: We traveled to Springfield to take on Mullingar Shamrocks in the the ACFL Div 1 league last Friday night. Down a number of regulars the standard, commitment, and effort once again by the lads was top notch. We missed a few scoring chances early on but settled as the game went on. Some good link up play involving Padraig Nestor, Cathal Daly and Shane Tone resulted in some fine scores from David Tone and Dude McCormack. Mullingar then struck for a goal to get themselves back in the game. Having dominated the first half in tricky weather conditions we went in the half time level on a score of 0.05 to 1.02. We came out for the second half and took control of the game with our work rate and tackling second to none. We kicked on with some good scores from frees by David fox and Sean Pettit. The Dude, Eamon Boland, Izzy and Dee Dee in the midfield among others were really driving us on at this stage and we never let up until Brendan Keena blew the full time whistle. We only conceded two points in the second half and scored 7. We now sit 4th in the league with two games to play. Well done lads on a great win and performance. Well done to Ben Cox and Padraig Geoghegan who came off the bench to make there senior debuts.

We played two games in the Div 1 minor league last week. On Wednesday last we played Maryland/Tang in Drumraney. A tense and entertaining game throughout with both teams really going for the win. Ben Cox showed up well in attack kicking most of our scores but in the end the home side went on to win it with the last kick of the game, scoring a goal to win by 3.15 to 2.15. We played Coralstown Kinnegad last Sunday evening in Rosemount, an impressive performance saw us run out 4 point winners.
