The Meath Cumann na mBunscol Girls football finals took place in Pairc Tailteann. There were seven titles up for grabs.
St Finians of Kllyon had three points to spare over Kilbride NS Trim in the opening final of the day.
St. Finians Killyon 1-6 Kilbride NS 1-3
The winners played with a strong wind blowing in to the O'Mahonys end of Pairc Tailteann and were good value for their seven point interval lead.
Aoife McKeon and Kirsten Massey opened the scoring for Killyon. A goal from Ellen Hynes and another Massey point had the girls in Green and Red 1-04 to 0-1 up after ten minutes. Kilbride captain Ellen Birmingham sent over a fine point but Killyon finished with a flourish with scores from Massey, Katie Mulchrone and Hynes to go in at the break 1-6 to 0-2 in front.
Killyon failed to score in the second half but some outstanding defending kept Kilbride's scoring opportunities to a minimum. Ellen Birmingham gave the Trim school a great start with a goal but all they could muster after that was a point from Roisin O'Brien as Killyon held on to claim their very first girls football title.
After the game Gerry O'Donoghue presented the girls division 5 Football Cup to St. Finian's Killyon captain Chloe Duignan.
