The feature game today was the Leinster club SHC final between Dublin champions Cuala and O'Loughlin Gaels of Kilkenny.
With major silverware up for grabs as well as an All-Ireland semi-final date with Slaughtneil on February 4th, no quarter was given once the action commenced in Portlaoise.
There was also provincial final fare in Munster this afternoon, with both junior club deciders forming a novel double-header at Mallow - Mayfield of Cork V Ballyduff Lower (Waterford) in hurling (1:30) and Cork champions Gabriel Rangers against Kerry kingpins Glenbeigh Glencar in football (3:15).
