Claughaun was founded in 1902, the current president being Liam Bourke and chairman John O Brien. The club has produced many fine hurlers, most notably Eamonn Cregan, Micky Graham, Micky Cross, Mike Galligan & Leo O Connor. The club is situated on Childers road in Limerick and for the last few years it has a clubhouse with much facilities for all age groups. The last time the club won the senior hurling championship was in 1986 when they beat the western club Adare in the Gaelic grounds in Limerick. But there has since been successes, three county championships in football.
