Gary Brennan is honoured to be in line to become the fourth Clare man to represent Ireland in the International Rules series.

If the 31-year old Banner County captain gets game time against the Aussies at Croke Park this weekend, he will follow in the footsteps of fellow Clare men Odhran O'Dwyer, Martin Daly and Noel Roche.

"It's great to be on the list of Clare players. There's been a great reaction at home and a lot of well wishers. It's great Clare has a representative and hopefully it will bring it on," the Clondegad clubman is quoted in The Irish Daily Mirror.

"Noel was highly revered in Clare and he is very well respected. He did a couple of coaching sessions with us in the club, going back a few years.

"He is a great man to listen to. He's had a very good influence on his own club in Kilkee and to be mentioned in the same breath as him is somewhat surreal. It's certainly a nice feeling this week."
