Sixmilebridge manager John O'Meara paid tribute to his players after they went through the entire competitive season in Clare unbeaten.

The county champions added the league title to the championship title won last month when they defeated Crusheen in the final last Sunday.

The only competitive defeat that the 'bridge suffered in 2015 was to Na Piarsaigh in the Munster club SHC.

However, to go through a competitive season in your own county is a remarkable achievement and O'Meara was keen to praise his players.

Speaking to the Clare Champion he said: "We are thrilled. It was a tough week for us. We were very down after last Sunday. We went back training on Wednesday night and we just said that's in the past is gone and we can do nothing about it and to give the lads their due, they just really, focussed on the game.

He added: "Credit to the lads who came in and to the squad. Our year has been built on the whole squad and on 31 fellas and to get over the line was a huge achievement and in particular to do the double and to go undefeated all year. It's not something we set out to do but we are absolutely thrilled that it has happened."
