The evergreen Niall Gilligan shot seven points as Sixmilebridge qualified for their third Canon Hamilton Cup final in five years with a 3-21 to 3-13 victory over Crusheen at Cusack Park this afternoon.
The 2013 champions laid the foundations for their victory in the first half when goals from Jamie Shanahan and Shane Golden in the first and 17th minutes helped them to a 2-12 to 1-5 interval lead, with Crusheen's goal coming from Conor McDonnell in the closing stages of the half.
Last year's runners-up continued their recovery in the third quarter when a Fergus Kennedy brace of goals helped reduce the gap to two points, 3-11 to 2-16. However, county star Golden settled the 'Bridge with his second major, and they eventually won by eight.
Sixmilebridge will have to wait another week to discover the identity of their final opponents after Domhnall O'Donovan replicated his heroics in the 2013 All-Ireland final by scoring a last-gasp point to earn Clonlara a 3-11 to 0-20 draw with Kilmaley in yesterday's first semi-final.
