Clare have confirmed that Davy Fitzgerald will be kept on as senior hurling manager until the end of the 2017 season.

Fitzgerald was given a one-year extension last summer, having been granted a three-year term after leading the Banner County to the 2013 All-Ireland. Even though the last two years have not gone according to plan, with the team failing to return to the All-Ireland series, Clare chiefs are confident that their former goalkeeper is still the man for the job.

Since capturing the Liam MacCarthy Cup two years ago, Clare have played six championship matches, winning just one. Despite Sunday's Qualifier defeat to Cork, chairman Michael McDonagh says Davy Fitz' position will not be reviewed.
