Clare midfielder Colm Galvin will switch his allegiance to Tipperary this summer ...
The classy Clonlara hurler is to link up with the Tipperary club in Boston and miss the Banner's championship campaign according to The Irish Daily Mail.
'A huge decision', according to his club manager Sean Stack, Galvin's travel plans are the latest set-back for Davy Fitzgerald and his management team as they attempt to plot a repeat of the 2013 All-Ireland success.
"It's very disappointing," Stack remarked. "It's a huge decision on his part. If he goes before a certain date in May he can be deemed a local player before other players are brought over for the summer.
"The GAA are paying lip service to the plight of the clubs. The fact that that the GAA can pass a sanction allowing a player to leave and play in America instead proves that."
Podge Collins' decision to chose football over hurling and the recent controversy surrounding the departure of Davy O'Halloran and Nicky O'Connell from the panel has seen Clare hurling make headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Now Davy Fitz has to deal with the loss of Galvin on a J1 visa to the US.
Since joining the senior panel in 2012, the All Star midfielder has helped the Banner to Liam McCarthy Cup glory in 2013, and was also part of the county's three-in-a-row All-Ireland U21 winning team.
