Clarecastle are not in a position to pay the full amount of the levy imposed on them by Clare GAA for the redevelopment of Cusack Park.

At a county board meeting this week, club delegate Bernard Hanrahan claimed that the Magpies "can't afford" the €1,400 per year contribution which is being sought reported Clare FM. Clubs are being asked to come up with between €700 and €1,500 per year to service the annual loan of €60,000 for the €2.3 million revamp of the county ground in Ennis.

There are seven different tiers based on the population of the club's area, the number of teams its fields as well as its infrastructure, with Clarecastle falling into Tier 2.

Tier 1 clubs, including Eire Og, St. Joseph's Doora-Barefield, Sixmilebridge and Wolfe Tones, will pay an annual levy of €1,500, while clubs at the opposite end of the scale will contribute €700.
