Waterford Crystal Cup: Ryan wins it for Clare

Clare will face Cork for a place in the Waterford Crystal Cup final next weekend after substitute Colin Ryan's injury-time point gave them victory over Tipperary at Sixmilebridge.

The Banner handed All-Ireland U21 winners Gearoid O'Connell and Conor Cleary their senior debuts in a game which was evenly contested throughout.There was never more than two points between the sides in an opening period which ended with the hosts holding a 0-8 to 0-7 lead after they scored four of the last six points, including two from Cathal O'Connell frees.

Clare had opened up up a three-point lead by the 46th minute and further scores from subs Ryan and Paul Flanagan had them 0-15 to 0-11 in front with eight minutes remaining.

But with captain Brendan Maher to the fore, Tipp reeled off four unanswered points to level before Ryan fired over the winner.
