Ballygunner manager Fergal Hartley has cited Brian O'Sullivan's 45th minute dismissal as the turning point in his side's Munster club SHC first round defeat to Cratloe.

The Waterford champions had stormed back from an eight-point half-time deficit to trail by one when O'Sullivan was issued with his second yellow card. Cratloe took advantage of the extra man and secured victory with a late kicked goal from Cathal McInerney.

"It was the difference," Hartley contended.

"I didn't see much in the foul, maybe someone will tell me different or maybe I'll watch it later on and say, 'yeah, there was something in it'. I didn't see his first yellow either, but that's not to take away from Cratloe.

"They're a superb team and their character, in terms of what they've won this year and then to come out and play like that, that determination, it's absolutely amazing and tells you a huge amount about their club."
