Galvin not seeing double just yet

Cratloe's John Galvin.

Cratloe's John Galvin said the club's senior footballers are fully focused on their showdown with Eire Og and not the prospect of a football and hurling double.

After their victory over Crusheen last weekend, Cratloe's hurlers are also in the county final but former Limerick star Galvin, who transferred to the club this year, says they are only looking at this Sunday's clash at Cusack Park (throw-in 3.30pm).

"It's a tough ask to win both," Galvin told The Clare Champion. "It hasn't been done since 1914. Look, no one is really thinking about that.

"The hurlers are only thinking about their next game and it's the same for the footballers. When it comes down to it, the players are focussed on playing and they don't think about records. It's all about winning the game on the day."

On the prospect of making a return to inter-county football in a Clare jersey, Galvin said: "I will play out this season with Cratloe and see after that. I am 34 now and getting slower.

"Farming and sport don't go well together. I don't have a whole pile of time. I have been playing inter-county football for 16 years and it's tough going. I have to sit down and think about it later in the year but, right now, the whole focus is on Sunday's senior final and, hopefully, Cratloe can retain the title."
