Clare under-21 joint manager Gerry O'Connor is adamant that the ambition and desire is still in the players as they go in search of a third All-Ireland title.

The Banner take on Wexford in this year's decider at Semple Stadium and they go into the match as favourites to win a coveted consecutive title at this level.

Clare have cruised through to the final, but many feel that Wexford will provide a stern test and question the defending champions hunger, but O'Connor stressed to the Clare Champion that there is no problems on that front.

"We are very ambitious and we set ourselves ambitious goals at the start of the season. Number one was to win the first game in the Munster championship, get to the final and win that, get to an All-Ireland final and try and win that," said O'Connor.

He added: This in many ways is a very unusual pairing to have Clare and Wexford in the U-21 final when we look at the heavyweights of the game that have been there for the past number of years. If you were to sit down two or three years ago, you would be expecting Kilkenny, Tipperary and Galway to be contesting under-21 finals for the foreseeable future."
