Trailblazing referee Margaret Farrelly is set for another landmark date this Sunday when she takes charge of the Cavan junior football championship final.

Farrelly was confirmed for the decider clash between Cornafean and Ballymachugh at Monday night's county board meeting of the CCC, which will be one more milestone for the history-making Laragh United official.

Earlier this year, Farrelly became the first woman to referee a senior inter-county game between Fermanagh and St Mary's in the Dr McKenna Cup, having been handed the whistle for the All-Ireland Ladies SFC final and Cavan U21 final two years previous.

2014 also saw her named Ulster GAA Referee of the Year - three years on from joining the northern province's Referee Academy.
