Clare make camogie history with first All female team of officials

CAMOGIE history will be created this weekend when an all-female team of officials will take charge of a senior final for the first time.
Tomorrow (Saturday) is county final day in Clare, with Newmarket-on-Fergus and Inagh Kilnamona contesting an eagerly-awaited PK Travel senior decider at 3pm.
The double header at Clarecastle gets under way with the Glenomra Shield final at 1pm, and the clash between Clooney Quin and Sixmilebridge will go down in the annals of camogie regardless of the result.
That is because referee Áine Nic Cormaic will lead a seven-strong team of women to officiate the game, something that has never happened in a senior camogie final before.
Nic Cormaic, who is is officiating at her first senior final, is a former Clare goalkeeper who won three All-Ireland intermediate titles and a National League Division 2 crown with the Banner during a 14-year career.
She is joined by Wolfe Tones clubmates Laura Linnane, Slyvia O'Brien, Debbie Kelly and Eithne Dooley, who will be umpires. The quintet have enjoyed county final glory together before with the Tones.
The team is completed by Anne Marie McGann (St Joseph's) and Lauran Solon (Whitegate), who will be on sideline duty.
