Tara Senior Camogie team faced Thomas McCurtains in the 5th round of the all Britain Senior Camogie championship on Sunday in Greenford. Even though Thomas McCurtains, from East London, are a newly formed camogie club this year, Tara never underestimated them and went out fighting for everything. Tara came out on top in the end on a score line of 4:19 to 1:1. There were some great displays of camogie from both sides but notably some fantastic scores from the Tara forwards. Maria Ryan in particular gave a spectacular performance notching up 3-4, all from play, and setting up many more. Tara full forward Orlaith Jennings was also outstanding slotting 7 points over, again all from play. Other scores came from Clare Ryan (0-3), Anna Nyhan(0-2), Mary Fenton (1-1) and Helen Murphy and Emma Hogan with a point each.
Because of the current standing in the league table Tara are playing Thomas McCurtains in the semi-final next Saturday in Greenford. Led by Alan Smyth (Galway) and Tom Healy (Tipperary), Tara will be gunning for their 8th senior title in a row this year.
Tara are always welcoming new players at all levels. If you would like to play please contact 07771957341.
