History in the making for All-Ireland camogie finalists

All roads lead to Croke Park for the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Championship Finals on Sunday, September 11th where a bumper crowd is expected for the Senior, Intermediate and Premier Junior title deciders.
Current All-Ireland champions Cork, under manager Paudie Murray, are on the verge of history as they aim to win their third consecutive Senior title as part of a Senior-Intermediate double. Victory on the second Sunday of September will see the Rebels become the most successful county in the history of the Championship by topping the roll of honour and overtaking Dublin with whom they currently share the honour with 26 titles each.
Standing in their way are Ann Downey's Kilkenny side, who have not won the Senior Championship in 22 years but who now find themselves within touching distance of an incredible Senior-Intermediate double.
The Premier Junior Final, meanwhile, sees yet more history in the making as Carlow line out in Croke Park for the very first time. Their opponents, National League champions Armagh, last won this title in 1993 and will travel south with high expectations.
2016 "a thrilling Championship"
This year's Championship has been one of the best in recent years, with a number of high-profile games only being decided with the final puck of a ball and many going to extra-time. Both Senior Semi-Finals and the Premier Junior deciders between Carlow and Westmeath went to extra-time in what has been a superb advertisement for the game of Camogie.
Catherine Neary, Camogie Association President said: "It's been a thrilling Championship so far and we can now look forward to the biggest day in the Camogie calendar and what should be a truly wonderful spectacle.
"The six teams lining out are an inspiration to their communities, their clubs and of course their counties and they deserve every ounce of support they get," Ms. Neary said. "I'd urge everyone to make the trip to Croke Park on September 11th where you won't be disappointed!
"People were blown away by the speed and technical skill on display in the Semi-Finals that were broadcast live on RTÉ One television and we're looking forward to more of the same," she added. "Good luck to all of this year's finalists."
Tickets are on sale for Sunday's triple-header, with substantial discounts for adults, children, families, OAPs and students as well as for clubs and large group bookings.
Speaking at Captain's Day in Croke Park (Thursday September 1st), Deirdre Ashe, Director of Personal Lines for Liberty Insurance, said: "It has been another extraordinary season of Camogie; in addition to the two memorable Semi-Finals which both went to extra-time, our Squad Goals competition has been running throughout this year's Championship and we're now down to the Final. We encourage everyone to #supporthersport and come to Croke Park to see the Camogie clubs of Castleknock and St. Lachtain's take to the field and battle it out to win €5,000 for their club".
