TARA wish Angela luck in All-Ireland final

Angela Kennelly, past Tara player is lining out for Kilkenny Intermediate Camogie team this Sunday in the All-Ireland final against Cork. Kilkenny beat Kildare in the semi-final on a score line of 1-15 to 0-7 points to book their place in Croke Park on Sunday September 11th. Angela joined Tara in 2009 and was a fundamental factor in helping Tara win 5 Senior titles in a row. Angela won 3 Player of the Tournament awards at our annual Tara 7s along with various player of the match awards.  Not only was she instrumental on the field but she worked tirelessly behind the scenes being on the committee up until she moved back home to Mullinavat in 2015, including holding positions as Secretary and Chairperson. She also represented London Camogie in 2010.

As well as her impressive camogie track record, she played football for KKG as well as being London Ladies football captain last year.

We hope Angela can use a thing or two she learned with Tara of the years to help Kilkenny to All-Ireland victory. Coincidentally, Bid Grennan from Tullogher, another Tara past payer, was on the Kilkenny Intermediate team last year, Bid gave birth to her first child this year, otherwise would more than likely be lining out alongside Angela on Sunday. Everyone at Tara  would like to wish Angela and her team mates very best of luck on Sunday.

Tara Captains 2016

Helen Murphy has been voted as Tara captain for 2016. She will have good help with Joanna Hamilton and Orlaith Jennings as Vice captains.

Helen Murphy (Glenmore) - made her Tara debut at the 1/4 final v Four Roads in Ballyforan October 2009. She played at Number 12. 2009 was Tara's first senior championship win since 1995. Helen won player of the year for Tara in 2015 and has been an active member on the committee over the last number of years.

Joanne Hamilton (Cushendun) - joined Tara 2007.  She is the longest playing member of Tara and was a key member of the Tara All-Ireland team. Joanne cored a class point last month in the World Games Final v Australia in Croke Park.

Orlaith Jennings (Ballincollig) Joined Tara early 2015.  Student Nurse at Bucks. Fantastic performance at the Kildangan Munster 7s in June.  Scored a great point in the final last year.

I'm sure all three girls will do a fantastic job and hopefully can lead Tara to their 8th Senior title in a  row.

Tara are always welcoming new players at all levels. If you are interested, please contact Sheila on 07771957341.
