The biggest ever West Coast Sevens in San Diego drew praise from old and new clubs.

The biggest ever West Coast Sevens in San Diego drew praise from old and new clubs taking part over the weekend.

A record 250 players from Texas, Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Calgary, Los Angeles and San Francisco enjoyed two days of games in all codes.

"It was absolutely brilliant," says Calgary camogie captain Niamh Golden, while Padraig Pearse Chicago chairperson Conor Fitzpatrick says it was the best Sevens he had seen outside Ireland.

Seamus Collins from the Naomh Padraig hurling club in San Francisco added: "We had a great weekend, we're a senior team and a few teams really put it up to us. We'll be back next year".

The report also has contributions from South West GAA Chairperson Tracey Rivera, Denver Regulators hurler Brian O'Hare, and Brazilian-born San Diego Na Fianna Ladies footballer Pollyanna Palhano who made a 6-hour flight from Hawaii to take part.
