It's the third Sunday in June and the action was coming thick and fast at this stage.

This afternoon, we had games in both the hurling and football championships as we reached the penultimate stages in most of the provincial campaigns.

In Leinster, defending All-Ireland champions Kilkenny began their quest to defend their title when they took on old rivals Wexford at Nowlan Park at 2pm.

Arguably, the 'big game' of the day was the meeting of Limerick and Tipperary in the Munster SHC semi-final at the Gaelic Grounds, which throws in at 4pm.

At the same time up North, Monaghan were favourites to see off the challenge of Fermanagh in the Ulster SFC semi-final at Breffni Park.

We also had games in the Ulster SHC as Derry took on Donegal and Armagh faced Down. Both these games threw in at 3.30pm.
