Kilcoole Camogie Club News

March 30, 2015

After a few weeks of coaching in Kilcoole Primary School the girls of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th classes are invites to take part in a Camogie 'Come & Try It' Day where they will get a chance to play some fun games, get further coaching and learn a little about playing for a Club. All girls aged 8-13 who live locally or in the surrounding areas are welcome to come along, including girls who attend other Primary schools.
The 'Come & Try It' Day takes place in Kilcoole GAA Grounds on the Newcastle Road on Wednesday April 1st from 11am - 1pm.
On Thursday April 2nd the County GAA Board is running a Blitz for U10 players in Kilcoole Gaa Grounds as well - this is for boys & girls from all Clubs in the region. That runs from 1.30-3-30.
Next week-end we host a visiting Shinty team from Scotland. Shinty will be familiar to anybody who has followed the Compromise Rules series over the past number of years. Shinty is basically the traditional Scottish game that resembles Camogie/Hurling.
Kilcoole Senior Camogie players will play the visitors from Aberdour Shinty Club at 2.30 on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning the Aberdour team will play a Wicklow selection in the GAA Centre of Excellence in Ballinakill @ 11.30am.
As this is an International event it has attracted a lot of media coverage. Please come along to Kilcoole GAA Grounds on Saturday afternoon to see it for yourself. Check out the Facebook pages of Women's Camanachd Association  & The World of Shinty to get a flavour of the game.
Adult Competitive action gets underway on Tuesday April 7th when St Mark's Tallaght make the trip to Kilcoole to play @ 6.45pm.
Annual membership is now due. Training for all Teams gets underway next week and matches will start after the school holidays.
